I'm the creator of single / single.
I've been directing commercials and theatre since 2017.
I direct TVCs both locally and internationally, and have sold out my last six seasons of debut theatre.
single/single allows me to bring those two mediums together.
Theatre and film have more in common than people realise. single/single has the artistry of a short film, with the electricity of a live performance. A magic combination - without the safety blanket of hiding between cuts!​
As a performance director, I see how actors are trained to ignore the camera, but are also hyper-aware of it. It’s constantly in their periphery. single/single allows actors the chance to acknowledge the camera directly, but not necessarily in a confronting way. Breaking the fourth wall can be liberating and consolidating for performers and audiences alike.
Regardless of medium, my mahi is informed by my passion for performance directing, and my desire to tell stories that centre around human connection. Working with actors is my favourite thing in the world, and single/single gives me the opportunity to do just that.
